MSU scientists have first mapped the biodiversity of earthworms on the planet
In temperate latitudes, the local diversity of earthworms is higher than in the tropics. Global climate change can lead to significant changes in earthworm communities around the world, threatening many of the functions they perform. These are the two main results of a new study conducted by an international group of scientists with the participation of MSU research staff. The study has contributed to the collection of the world's largest earthworm database, which covered 6928 points in 57 countries. The results of the study are published in 'Science' journal.
