The Second Forum of the Federation of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities

November 28, 2019 Moscow State University welcomed the Second Forum of the Federation of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities, organized in close cooperation by the Russian Rectors’ Union, the Association of Arab Universities and the Federation of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities. The event was attended by the representatives of 46 Russian and 33 Arab universities from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Jordan, Algeria, Palestine, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Somalia.
In the welcoming speech, Rector of Moscow State University, President of the Russian Rectors’ Union professor Viktor Sadovnichy has emphasized that European and Arab science and education are connected by closely interwoven historical roots, and outlined the long history of cooperation between Russia and the Arab world at the level of state leaders and higher education institutions. Speaking about the cooperation of Moscow State University with the countries of the Arab world, Professor Sadovnichy recalled of the official visits to MSU of Crown Prince of Yemen El Badr Seif Ul-Islam Mohamed, the first President of Algeria Ahmed Ben Bella, President of the United Arab Republic Gamal Abdel Nasser, Crown Prince of Jordan Al Hassan bin Talal, Professor Emeritus of MSU.
